Social Ethical and Privacy Needs in ICT for Older People: A DIALOGUE ROADMAP

Funded under 7th FWP (Seventh Framework Programme) - Research area: ICT-2007.7.1 ICT and ageing

Grant agreement no.: 216820

Vision Statement

We join in a vision of a society in which technologies serve to ensure that elderly and ageing persons are connected with family and community, living healthy, productive, and satisfying lives in a supportive environment. We envision technologies that not only are designed in a manner to meet the unique physical requirements of the ageing body, but which move beyond this to address the broader emotional and social needs for inclusion, and simultaneously preserve the individual s liberty, privacy, and autonomy.

Mission Statement

The Social Ethical and Privacy Needs in ICT for Older People: A Dialogue for Roadmap (SENIOR) is a 2 year support action which aims to provide a systematic assessment using dialogue as the key instrument to evaluate the social, ethical and privacy issues involved in ICT and Ageing.
As a result, SENIOR will provide an understanding of how technological trends are responding to the goals of inclusion for the ageing and using lessons learned from those trends, plan strategies for the future to closely link these issues to technology at the design level.

Each expert group will analyse technology trends, and the discussion should enlighten possible tradeoffs between privacy, ethics and technological innovation. The meetings will be attended by internal and external experts selected by SENIOR Consortium, and by other interested experts.
